Restrictions imposed on Jammu have been lifted in their entirety, but are set to continue on for a while in the Kashmir Valley.
The top police officer has assured that the situation in Jammu and Kashmir is under control and no major injuries have occurred. A few pellet injuries took place, but were looked after and treated for.
Last week, mobile, landline connectivity and internet services were blocked and prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedures had been imposed. These actions were put in motion hours before the Centre revoked Jammu and Kashmir’s special status and split it into two union territories.
Government spokesperson Rohit Kansal had said on Tuesday that “reasonable restrictions may be necessary” to stop questionable entities from carrying out any untimely incident.
A day after Eid al-Adha, restrictions were eased in many parts of the Valley, that saw people visiting their relatives to exchange Eid greetings.
