A 36 years old man from Tamil Nadu’s Tirunelveli district was arrested for murdering his wife over Facebook use. The 36 years old man is a construction worker in Tirunelveli district of Tamil Nadu.
The man was arrested on Tuesday for murdering his wife because she apparaently spent hours chatting with male friends on Facebook, Police said. A Police official added that “the 36 years old man murdered his wife in defiance of his warning”.
Gomathinayagam, 36, who lives in Sankarankoil town which is about 200 km from Chennai, has 3 children. On repeated questioning by Police, he confessed to having murdered his wife Muthumari, 33, six days ago. Gomathinayagam has been remanded on 15-days custody Sankarankoil judicial magistrate.
A Police official from Sankarankoil said that “Gomathinayagam had lodged a complaint last Thursday stating that his wife was found dead with deep cuts on her body. During our questioning, he said that his was Muthumari was active on Facebook and always chatting with her male friends, and anyone of them could have commited the murder.”
The Police official told that “we suspected some amiss in his version of events as there was no robbery of cash or jewellery from his house. On Monday, we sent a forensic team to investigate the matter and the fingerprits collected at the sport of crime matched with those of Gomathinayagam.
