Pakistan based terrorist group JeM leader Masood Azhar on Wednesday was declared a global terrorist by United Nations after. The JeM chief was designated a global terrorist after China withdrew its long-standing opposition to the move.
Masood Azhar was listed by the UN’s 1267 Sanctions Committee for his association with Al-Qaeda and his role in planning and financing terrorist acts by Jaish-e-Mohammed.
So what it actually means to declare JeM chief a global terrorist. All member countries of the United Nations will have to enforce the following steps:
Organizations designated as terrorists are banned from traveling and transiting through the member countries.
All member countries of the United Nations will have to freeze all funds and other financial assets for terrorist organizations.
All member countries will have to prevent the direct or indirect supply of arms, related material, technical support, assistance, and training individuals associated with terrorist groups.
What amounts to the disregard of the ban?
- Participating in the planning, financing, technical advice or support to the designated terrorist organizations.
- Selling, transferring or supplying of arms and ammo to these organizations.
- Recruiting or supporting acts of individuals associated with terrorist organizations.
